Gentrified hope faded when they push the color out
Businessmen bury old by building clout
Open shut deals land taken for trendy gold
Safety means white and black means night
Poor pushed beyond the pale
Uptown, Midtown, and all around for sale
Valley girl TV voices replace ghetto slang
Fixed gear lifestyles organically priced
The devil is in the details of the developers blueprints
Onward to green money stash pile
Trend capitalization is reality broken
Brighter lights mean less fights but it’s broken
Less crime creates less panic buyers
Politicians and media still play fear mongers
Forcing back progress unless it’s lining pockets
Handshakes earthquakes and give takes
Minority report says they’re cleaning up
Bitter truth white means safety
Colors mean danger
Gentrified city unstably pretty
Balance sought uneven spring
Everyone affected but no one is free
We are all just a sinkhole away from the end

gentrification
