The Valley

Archetypes emasculate time honored hope
Spitting corrosive venom hot
The rusted towers of industry weep
Lay offs, pay offs, fuck off
Smokestack silence louder than bombs
Unionized unemployment strengthens
Glory days passed down like mythology
A Bruce Springsteen blue collar lullaby
Gentrified curses terrorize generations
Corporate blight covers gritty truth
Slipping mickeys to consumers
Taking advantage of market values
Bleeding the poor dry and abandoned
Worker bees die sickly young
Pension promises broken
Families shattered like factory windows
Prison provides needed benefits, work cannot
Street hustle with free tuition
Felony fathers fall victim to time
Class war ended atom bomb
The divide is steep and vast
The shadow of the valley of death
A suit, a cigar, and a smile
We shall fear their evil
