Six 2016 Films that Made Ana Happy

Everybody Wants Some

Richard Linklater has finally made a bookend of sorts to Dazed and Confused. Imagine a film that embodies the feel of 1980: It’s excellently acted, roll-on-floor hilarious, and centers around a college baseball team the weekend before school starts. This was my favorite film of the year.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Action packed, with a feeling more of the original trilogy than the prequels, Rogue One was everything I wanted as a Star Wars fan.

Café Society

Say what you will about Woody Allen, but There are very few of his films that I haven’t loved. For me, Jesse Eisenberg does a superb job playing roles that Allen himself would’ve played in his younger years.

Captain America: Civil War

This was more than just a feud between two sides of the Avengers, this was about Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers’ friendship.

Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds cemented our suspicions that in the right hands he would make the perfect Deadpool. He also made the funniest comic book movie of the year.

Lazer Team

This comedy about a group of acquaintances who get attached to different pieces of an alien battle suit is no masterpiece, but it’s funny. It helps if you are a fan of Rooster Teeth, the production company that made this film. You can find it on YouTube Red.

You might be wondering where are some of these great dramas on my list? I haven’t seen them. This was a dark year, and I just wanted to laugh.

I really enjoyed deadpool and civil war. Haven’t had the chance to see everybody wants some yet but I plan on picking it up soon. Heard lots of good things and who doesn’t love dazed and confused and the 80’s?!
