31 Days, Day 25: Berwanger’s Mario Paint Music Video “Horror Show” is Everything You’ve Ever Wanted and More

Josh Berwanger of the 90s synth powered indie rock outfit, The Anniversary, is releasing a new album on Halloween. The album, entitled The Star Invaders, is surely an interesting concept, as you can see by the kick ass video below that he made 100% with Mario Paint, like any good product of the the Nintendo generation should be able to appreciate.

Josh explains the inspiration for the album as such:

I was going through a horrible breakup and was extremely depressed. I was on a family vacation in North Carolina at the ocean and one night a UFO appeared. The UFO sat above me and I begged for it to take me. It then began to multiply, and as my hear beat at an extreme rate I’ve never felt before, the UFOs disappeared into nothing. I felt rejected by everything and began to write this new album.

Check out another track from the album below via the Berwanger Bandcamp page and then grab your copy on Tuesday!

Justin has been running websites since his first Geocities site in 1994, but only did he ever start covering anything of substance years later. After he stopped regularly running local concerts in Northern NJ and the greater Philly area, he knew he needed to step up his writing game if he expected to continue to get free music to listen to. He writes regularly here and at Cinapse, as well as contributing to a few other sites on occasion. He likes music, film, the Philadelphia Eagles, the 76ers, talking about Criminal Justice, reading Intelligence Report, and his family... not in that order. His beautiful wife is far more talented than he is and his kids far more adorable... and crazy.
