All We Want For Christmas is… A Brand New 80s Flavored Darkwave/Synth-Pop Mashup Album

Prior to last week, I had no idea who the hell Priest was. I won’t lie and pretend that I was a long-time fan of these Swedish synth rockers just to sound cool, because… let’s face it… I’m surely not that cool. But, this album sure is.

Out yesterday, on vinyl and CD, the latest album from Sweden’s Priest combines the recent trend of dark 80s style synth music with a New Wave flavor and a modern EDM sensibility. It’s danceable and fun, while also contemplative and dark. Angsty teens, aging ravers, and hardcore Depeche Mode fans alike will find 36 minutes of great tunes to rock out to.

The first single, “The Cross”, has a killer music video that really serves to set the tone for what to expect. Check it out below:

In short, one of the only albums I want for Christmas is Priest’s New Flesh. If I may quote a modern horror classic as a means for expressing my love for this album, “Long Live the New Flesh!”

Grab you copy (or buy it for me for Christmas) digitally over at Bandcamp or physically from MVD Entertainment Group.

Justin has been running websites since his first Geocities site in 1994, but only did he ever start covering anything of substance years later. After he stopped regularly running local concerts in Northern NJ and the greater Philly area, he knew he needed to step up his writing game if he expected to continue to get free music to listen to. He writes regularly here and at Cinapse, as well as contributing to a few other sites on occasion. He likes music, film, the Philadelphia Eagles, the 76ers, talking about Criminal Justice, reading Intelligence Report, and his family... not in that order. His beautiful wife is far more talented than he is and his kids far more adorable... and crazy.
