THE LULLABY is Psychological Horror Done Right!

The Lullaby is a 2018 psychological horror film directed by Darrell Roodt and is an Uncork’d Entertainment release. In The Lullaby, a young mother returns to her home town after giving birth. She begins to fall into depression while adjusting to motherhood while an evil presence tries to harm the baby… or does it?

Well, there is a first time for everything and here we have my first review of a straight psychological horror film here for this blog. I went into this with an open mind, since I’m very well versed with the director’s work, but not a big fan of these type of films. What I found here was a movie that will please all types of horror fans – even me.

The key to what makes this film work is the blending of what was going on in reality and what was in the young mother’s mind, while not foreshadowing which was which until the correct moment. Reine Swart shines as Chloe the young mother. The rest of the cast also turn in excellent performances. The “shock” scenes do shock and are not telegraphed like other films in this genre.

I would like to see this movie be this 2018’s Get Out in terms of success, so tune in and find out why.

Definitely recommended, this one hits VOD tomorrow so check it out!
