PUFF 2018: Joe Badon’s THE GOD INSIDE MY EAR

The God Inside My Ear plays on Saturday of this year’s Philadelphia Unnamed Film festival. You can catch it at the Proscenium Theater at the Drake Saturday, September 8th at 1:00 PM. Click here for tickets and here for the full lineup.

When Elizia’s boyfriend suddenly break up with her to join a cult, it shatters her world. While trying to carrying on with her life and work she begins to have horrifying visions, hear strange voices and is drawn into a world of conspiracies.

Wow, this is one very strange film. It starts out as a film about a girl dealing with a break up and ends up being a that same girl thrust into a strange life altering experience. With a mix of drama of the breakup and how Elizia deals with it, the comedy of her reentering the dating scene and her customer interactions with her nosy neighbor and a snotty customer at her job. Her friends try to intervene by encouraging her to “get back out there” to some very dire consequences. Her sanity and world begins to crumble and everything she tries doesn’t solve the problem.

First time director Joe Badon co-writes and directs a whirlwind of a movie that will leave an impression about what you just watched long after the movie is done. A quick IMDB search shows that Badon has a nice little list of his low budget short films prior to making this feature. I hope I come across of his work in the very near future.

Yes, this is a short review for the film… but to be honest, to say more would be to spoil the fun of discovering what a treat this one is. If you in Philadelphia, go check it out this weekend.
