31 Days, Day 31: Nocturnal Animals Sing About the Demons in their Heads in “The Haunting”

Nocturnal Animals aren’t a goth rock band or a horror punk outfit, but the closing track on their latest release has a spooky sound and is decidedly horror influenced. With that, I decided to share this track as part of our 31 Days of Halloween.

The band’s sound is upbeat and poppy, in the vein of popular acts like Arctic Monkeys, Panic! at the Disco, and Fall Out Boy. In this track, the lyrics are a bit darker than on most of the others on Writing On The Walls. There’s a definite influence from horror film and horror punk in both the lyrics and sound of this track, which really sucked me in as a horror fan.

I expect you’ll love it if you enjoy upbeat, punk influenced rock music, so give it a quick spin this Halloween and check out the band’s website for more!

Justin has been running websites since his first Geocities site in 1994, but only did he ever start covering anything of substance years later. After he stopped regularly running local concerts in Northern NJ and the greater Philly area, he knew he needed to step up his writing game if he expected to continue to get free music to listen to. He writes regularly here and at Cinapse, as well as contributing to a few other sites on occasion. He likes music, film, the Philadelphia Eagles, the 76ers, talking about Criminal Justice, reading Intelligence Report, and his family... not in that order. His beautiful wife is far more talented than he is and his kids far more adorable... and crazy.
