SoundBytes: Groove Laden Rock and/or Roll: THORSLUND Be Thy Name

If you’re like me, you’ve been watching John Cena and James Gunn’s latest project, Peacemaker. Among many other highlights of the HBO Max series is a soundtrack of 80s arena rock and hair metal. While maybe not always a genre I steer towards, it’s such a blast when highlighted in the right way… like the series does.

The show features the likes of Foxy Shazam, Hanoi Rocks, and Enuff Z’Nuff. And, damn, if this latest single from Hollywood’s own THORSLUND wouldn’t fit right in with the show’s aesthetic. The Sunset Strip sound is alive and well with THORSLUND, a duo of brothers originally from Canada who now hail from Hollywood and sound like they’ve bathed in the LA rock scene for decades. A classic sound with an undeniable ability to write a hook, THORSLUND’s latest – “Firecracker Man” – is a song that’ll make a believer out of the biggest hair metal haters out there.

Justin has been running websites since his first Geocities site in 1994, but only did he ever start covering anything of substance years later. After he stopped regularly running local concerts in Northern NJ and the greater Philly area, he knew he needed to step up his writing game if he expected to continue to get free music to listen to. He writes regularly here and at Cinapse, as well as contributing to a few other sites on occasion. He likes music, film, the Philadelphia Eagles, the 76ers, talking about Criminal Justice, reading Intelligence Report, and his family... not in that order. His beautiful wife is far more talented than he is and his kids far more adorable... and crazy.
