David A Can Rock! Don’t Believe Me? Then “Just Ask Gloria”

Blues heavy rock roll music doesn’t get much play on the airwaves these days. You still get some of the jangly blues influenced garage rock throwback bands, for sure – but true blues rock is not something that gets much play outside of the classic rock options and country bar scene. So, it’s refreshing when a modern artist drops an album that’s as heavy on the blues riffs and gruff bluesy vocals as it is on the driving rock rhythms. David A’s latest album, the aptly named Lit, is a flaming ball of blues and rock that fans of Tom Petty, Bruce, and Dire Straits will find fresh and enticing.

There are tons of great tracks on the 10 song LP that clocks in at about 34 minutes, but the closing track – “Just Ask Gloria” – really exemplifies the straight ahead blues rock sound that David A brings. A perfect track to start with, it has a toe tapping rhythm, great croony vocals, and enough blues riffs to make a Muddy Waters devotee happy.

Available now on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple, and all your favorite online spots, you can check out an album preview from David’s YouTube page below or find more info on the physical release at davidalpha.net.

Justin has been running websites since his first Geocities site in 1994, but only did he ever start covering anything of substance years later. After he stopped regularly running local concerts in Northern NJ and the greater Philly area, he knew he needed to step up his writing game if he expected to continue to get free music to listen to. He writes regularly here and at Cinapse, as well as contributing to a few other sites on occasion. He likes music, film, the Philadelphia Eagles, the 76ers, talking about Criminal Justice, reading Intelligence Report, and his family... not in that order. His beautiful wife is far more talented than he is and his kids far more adorable... and crazy.
