Fans of Lana Del Rey and Evanescence Alike Need to Check Out breakk.away
On “I’ll See You When the Night Comes” – the new track from up-and-coming Michigan based alternative rock collaborative breakk.away – the listener gets to experience a brand of alternative music fed by the world of hard rock and metal, as well as the singer-songwriter vibes the likes of songstress Lana Del Rey. With a powerful female lead and a cinematic backdrop that blends metal, pop, and indie styles, the overall feeling of the track is not too far off from bands like Evanescence or the vastly underrated Flyleaf. Yet, there’s something that feels rooted in the Brooklyn hipster music scene, as well. Clearly influenced by everything from the progressive rock of Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle) to the female fronted alternative pop of Lorde and Amy Winehouse to 90s alternative like Garbage and beyond, there’s a sound that feels fresh but familiar all at once.
As breakk.away releases more tracks and pushes towards their first full release, you can follow them on Facebook, Spotify, and Twitter to see what’s cooking. If “I’ll See You When the Night Comes” is any indication, this is a new force to be reckoned with in the music scene and I wouldn’t be surprised to see breakk.away making big waves in the coming years.
