Pottstown, PA – Only one week left till the 3rd annual Skate or Die Film Fest at the historic Ringing Rocks Roller Rink. Our annual event sees the festival moving back to its original 2-day format, including feature films and short films from all over the globe, live music, a small vendors market, good food and drink, tattoos from 3 amazing artists (2 amazing local artists and 1 visiting artist from Upstate NY), and – of course –  a lot of roller skating.

Sponsored by Appalachian Mountain PrintingHigh Voltage Barber Shop, Harmony Wealth Management, Leave a Pretty Corpse Athletic, Fun Dungeon, Chibi Cafe, Shit Sucks LLC, brookiellen designs, Breaking Glass Pictures, Vinegar Syndrome, and MAVThe Farsighted and Rockstar Roller Derby present what promises the most fun anyone can have with their clothes on.

The event is a perfect way to get an early start to your spooky season with a weekend of genre fare October 4th and 5th.

Full weekend passes and single day passes are available now and if you grab yours before the end of Monday with the code SOD7 you can grab them at 7% off. There’s also a “Cheap Skate” with music videos and a small vendor’s market on Saturday morning that’s included for Saturday pass holders or only $5 for anyone else.

On Friday, October 4th, we kick off the event with roller skating on the main rink and live music on the upper rink from 6pm to 9pm, all presented by Appalachian Mountain Printing. The Rectors, The Noid, Treeknock, and Get Well bring their various punk rock stylings while you skate, dance, or bob your head to the madness. The open skate session/punk rock show is followed by the world premiere of Dillon Brown’s The Summer We Died, accompanied by short film SK8 or Die.

On Saturday, September 23rd, the rink will be open for skating from 11-1 while select local vendors show off their wares and a reel or awesome music videos and short films is on the screen This Saturday kickoff event is called “Market Macabre: Skates and Scares” and is the perfect way to start the day.

Presented by High Voltage Barber Shop and immediately following “Market Macabre: Skates and Scares”, we kick off our red carpet event for world premiere of Pottstown’s own Chad Repko’s new short film Harvest, which we lead us into “It Came from Pottstown III: A Red Carpet Event”, the 3rd annual edition of our most popular block from the first two years of the fest.

Our newest addition to the Skate or Die lineup is “PRIDE or Die: A Skate or Die Celebration of LGBTQ+ Voices”. This first annual “PRIDE or Die” is killer (pun intended) as it’s capped off by the world premiere of Brian Dorton’s new slasher Early Morning Calm, but not before we get to enjoy 3 great shorts from other queer filmmakers, as we celebrate LGBTQ+ voice in genre cinema.

Before we roll into the main event, the weird and wonderful genre goodness that is our 3rd annual WTF Block, “WTF 3: Huey, Dewey, and Screwy”, brings us the type of joy that genre sickos and punk rock weirdos should all adore. From lighthearted fun to some legit scares, this block is always a blast.

And then it’s time for the Coup-De-Grâce, a celebration of two icons… one you definitely know and one you may not. Present by Harmony Wealth Management, “Vincent and Mikey Pay the Price” will cap the night with a very special 3D presentation (glasses included with your tickets) of the Vincent Price classic House on Haunted Hill, restored in beautiful Anaglyph 3D by SpaceBrains 3D from Philadelphia. However, before we dive into the classics, we’ll first get to see microbudget filmmaker Isaac Williams chronicle late great Philly outsider punk legend Mikey Wild and his quest to pay homage to one of his heroes, Vincent Price, in Maybe We Can Go to Hollywood. This main event is surely one not to be missed!

Full schedule, food vendors, drink menu (including tasty treats from our partners Manatawny Creek Winery, Sly Fox Beer, and Bluebird Distilling), tattoo artists with their available flash, and all info are available in the coming weeks at skateordiefestival.com.
