IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT is a Horror Themed Garage Rock Masterpiece
These are Sweden’s The Dahmers, a garage rock/punk rock outfit from Kristianstad, who focuses their tunes on horror themes and ideas. As a horror nerd and aging punk rocker, not much tickles my fancy as much as a good horror punk album. This, my loyal Farsighted readers, is just that… GOOD FUCKING HORROR PUNK!
A garage rock sound, horror themed lyrics, and great musicianship come together as the trifecta of awesome at the core of the new album from The Dahmers, In the Dead of Night. While I’d be hard pressed to pick standout tracks, as the album is so strong on the whole, it’s hard not to gravitate towards the opener, “Dusk”, as well as “Cut Me Down”, “I Wake Up the Dead”, and “Bloodsucker”. Truthfully, however, with each listen, favorite tracks will probably vacillate… the sign of a truly strong album.
Their physical copies of the album are sold out on their Bandcamp, but MVD has the album available and affordable on vinyl, as well as on CD. Grab it today if you love horror, love punk, or just love great tunes from great bands with great theatricality.
