Andy’s PULLING FOR YOU, But We’re Pulling for Him

Gentle keys tap, a short but funky synth riff hits, and then groovy bass kicks in right as the EP begins with the opening track, “Low”. Building off the incredible rhythm back of the track, a 2 minute instrumental that’ll get you lost in yourself and the vibe follows before Andy Blunda even says a word. The vocals only add to the brilliances, as this nearly 6 minute opening track grooves its way into becoming a permanent fixture in your head and your playlists, alike.

While there are many comparisons to be made to the likes of The Shins, Broken Bells, Modest Mouse, Pete Yorn, Death Cab for Cutie, and a variety of great indie rock acts – Blunda’s Pulling For You is definitely unique and something all its own. While “Low” is certainly a standout track, the four tracks that follow all have their own individual allures and a case could easily be made for any of them being a standout track in their own right.

Andy Blunda, the composer/musician/prodigy behind this EP, is a multi-instrumentalist who has performed on tour with acts like Fastball, been in several fantastic pop and rock acts, and has worked on a variety of television and film projects. The variety of instruments and overall feel of each track on this five song EP varies, but together they present an upbeat and uplifting 25 minutes of escape from everyday life. All five of the tracks were songs he’d written before, but he used the time we’ve all been locked down for the pandemic to revisit and record them, opening himself up to begin to write and perform new music.

He noted that wrapping these tracks up was a very cathartic experience and that he’s ready to forge forward with something new. We here at The Farsighted can’t wait to hear what’s next. Check out the entire EP below and consider supporting Andy Blunda by snagging the EP on Bandcamp today.

Justin has been running websites since his first Geocities site in 1994, but only did he ever start covering anything of substance years later. After he stopped regularly running local concerts in Northern NJ and the greater Philly area, he knew he needed to step up his writing game if he expected to continue to get free music to listen to. He writes regularly here and at Cinapse, as well as contributing to a few other sites on occasion. He likes music, film, the Philadelphia Eagles, the 76ers, talking about Criminal Justice, reading Intelligence Report, and his family... not in that order. His beautiful wife is far more talented than he is and his kids far more adorable... and crazy.
