SoundBytes: Chris Birkett’s “Precious Love” Keeps Blue Eyed Soul Alive

If there’s a hole in your heart that yearns for Hall & Oates to release a new album (I mean, come on guys, it’s been 14 years since that last one… and it was just a Christmas album), you can stop waiting and dive into the recent single from award winning singer/songwriter Chris Birkett. With that soul sound that Hall & Oates exemplified and a chill vibe not unlike the Beach Boys, Birkett’s “Precious Love” may not be what the kids are into these days… but we’re not all kids. The familiar sound that blends beautiful, soulful vocals with groovy bass lines and smooth saxophones is soothing and hits all the right notes.

“Precious Love” is inspired by his wife, written for her and celebrating their love. It’s playful beauty resembles what he thinks of her and the lyrics encapsulate his views on love, humanity, and relationships. In short, it’s a love song sung with soul than is sure to please fans of old school R&B and the pop rock of yesteryear.

Justin has been running websites since his first Geocities site in 1994, but only did he ever start covering anything of substance years later. After he stopped regularly running local concerts in Northern NJ and the greater Philly area, he knew he needed to step up his writing game if he expected to continue to get free music to listen to. He writes regularly here and at Cinapse, as well as contributing to a few other sites on occasion. He likes music, film, the Philadelphia Eagles, the 76ers, talking about Criminal Justice, reading Intelligence Report, and his family... not in that order. His beautiful wife is far more talented than he is and his kids far more adorable... and crazy.
