NMM SoundBytes: Paul’s Supreme Swords are Swinging

Paul Supreme, who’s father and uncle performed as the highly influential 90s alternative act The Frogs, was raised steeped in all types of music, so it’s not a surprise that picking a single genre was never in the cards for him. With a variety of music that veers into hip hop, R&B, alternative rock, pop, and electronic spaces, Supreme’s sound has been compared to the likes of rappers such as Drake, genre benders like Kid Cudi, and R&B megastars like Post Malone. With a clear love for the alternative music of yesteryear from bands like that one his father founded and an equal love for diverse dance and pop artists from around the globe, the influences are as diverse as they come and the sound that forms from these influences is vast and difficult to pigeonhole.

In his new single, “Ninja Sword”, Supreme explores a variety of styles in a hook-heavy smooth dance track. As Supreme has grown, suffered losses, and developed his unique solo sound, he’s clearly found himself a balance of emotive vocals and catchy beats that stand out as something that’s different from the masses, while being exactly the type of music that would fit in on modern pop radio and in the background of your favorite TikToks.

Justin has been running websites since his first Geocities site in 1994, but only did he ever start covering anything of substance years later. After he stopped regularly running local concerts in Northern NJ and the greater Philly area, he knew he needed to step up his writing game if he expected to continue to get free music to listen to. He writes regularly here and at Cinapse, as well as contributing to a few other sites on occasion. He likes music, film, the Philadelphia Eagles, the 76ers, talking about Criminal Justice, reading Intelligence Report, and his family... not in that order. His beautiful wife is far more talented than he is and his kids far more adorable... and crazy.
