Out Friday: Montresor’s AUTOPOIESIS
Earlier this month, progressive composer and musician Cameron Pikó teased that something new was coming out. His project Montresor posted on their Facebook page the below teaser:
While this is but a tease, it certainly wets the whistle and leaves fans of the more experimental and progressive side of melodic instrumental music wanting much more. Thankfully, the wait is almost over.
With 8 new tracks clocking in around 45 minutes, there’s plenty more on the way. With infleunces ranging from his native Australia to every nook and cranny of the world, Pikó is a student of progressive music and has been interested in the more experimental side of composition since he was young. While his last album really showed off his devotion to prog rockers like King Crimson and Jethro Tull, the new album explores variosu other lands, dipping toes into some more ambient tones at times and playing the the jazz sandbox a great deal more than even before.
Enlisting great musicians such as Chris Martin, Stuart Byrne, Charlie Cawood, Vilan Mai, Morgan Ågren, Gerry Pantazsis, Phil Turcio, Richard Allison, and Gabriel Riccio, Pikó brings his compositions to life on what is truly a fantastic followup to his 2015 debut album, Entelechy. This sophomore effort shows no signs of a sophomore slump, whether you are a progressive devotee or need some new instrumental music as a backdrop and inspiration in your life.
With that all said, it should be clear that you don’t want to miss this one, Pre-Save it on Spotify now – then as soon as it drops you can indulge in this musical feast.
