The Poppy Devil

Kids are back doing heroin
It’s stronger suburban cut
Catching people in the break
Just off pain meds
Pharmacy addicts strung out
Looking for more
So comes heroin on 4.0
Not the Coltrane shit
Not some Nicky Barnes Harlem high
Not the 90s grunge dope
This is new and banging out newbies
Everyone from the drop out
To the suit and tie junkies
Mexican grade
Columbian cut
Passed the times of Chinese White
Or the Vietnam sickness
Not even Taliban High Test
This shit is cheaper
It’s gripping up the middle ground
Not just city slickers
Suburbanites
Country folks
Meth heads turning to junk
Dark days on the new skid row
In the schools
In the projects
In the board room
On the red carpet
It’s taken lives
They arrest the user
The sick abuser
Time to flip that script
Heal the ill
Turn em around
Before we lose another generation
To the poppy devil

Heroin
