New Russian Action Epic SAVING LENINGRAD Comes to US in December

We know we’re not much of a movie news site, but every now and again a film announcement crosses our desk that catches our eye and we want to share it with everyone. This is one of those films!

September, 1941. In an exciting and dangerous turn of events, young lovebirds Kostya and Nastya find themselves on board a barge that is evacuating people from the under sieged city of Leningrad. As they depart the barge, they encounter a ferocious storm. As the barge starts to sink, planes begin to arrive at the scene but tragically these planes are not there to rescue them. In fact, it’s quite the opposite…

This new epic film is directed by Aleksey Kozlov and produced by Arkady Fateev, will be released in North America in December 2019. The film is Russia’s official selection for the Golden Globe Awards 2020 and will have a US Premiere for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in the coming weeks.

Based on a true story, critics are saying it’s “a mixture between Dunkirk and Saving Private Ryan“. Already released by Universal Pictures International in CIS, this film has been one of the biggest box office hits at the Russian box office in 2019.

Justin has been running websites since his first Geocities site in 1994, but only did he ever start covering anything of substance years later. After he stopped regularly running local concerts in Northern NJ and the greater Philly area, he knew he needed to step up his writing game if he expected to continue to get free music to listen to. He writes regularly here and at Cinapse, as well as contributing to a few other sites on occasion. He likes music, film, the Philadelphia Eagles, the 76ers, talking about Criminal Justice, reading Intelligence Report, and his family... not in that order. His beautiful wife is far more talented than he is and his kids far more adorable... and crazy.
