New Music Monday: The Roundup, First of Fall 2016
Kicking off this New Music Monday Roundup is one of my favorite hip hop artists of all time. Not only is he a soulful singer and solid emcee, but he’s a multi-instrumentalist and writes songs for artists around the globe. With an upcoming EP and a new full length on the horizon, Wyclef just released a new remix track of his recent single “Hendrix”. You can check out the lyric video below:
Oscar And The Wolf has a hella international following but has just dropped his debut single in the US. Here at The Farsighted, we welcome new artists with open arms. Check out “The Game” now:
Nomad Stones is tailor made for my 90s indie scene loving heart. As a fond admirer of the greater Essex County Mass area scene (despite never actually spending time there), I found myself teenage self enamored with the emo rock of Piebald, the mathcore of Converge, and whatever the Hell Cave-In was. Well, the dudes from Cave-In have a new thing going on and it’s called Nomad Stones. Check out the new album below and grab yourself a copy while you’re at it:
This next one is weird. The song is “I’m a Sword Swallower (Prince Rama Remix)”. The artist is Daddy. Daddy is James FUCKING Franco and soundtrack composer Tim O’Keefe. The video is very, VERY not safe for work… or kids… or a lot of people and places, for that matter. Check it if you so dare:
Another Hollywood star just through their proverbial hat in the ring and that star is comedian Maya Rudolph. She and Gretchen Lieberum (from renowned Prince tribute act, Princess) released their first single as Sargent… and a nifty little lyric video, too. It’s rather chill and not exactly the vibe I tend to get into, but I’d hate to deny anyone else of a cool new groove that may be more their speed:
Feel good duo by way of France and America Freedom Fry is more than just a group with a clever name (but it is a clever name). Bilingual pop that is crazy infectious and has proven a fantastic background to writing more than a couple blog posts, their song “Shaky Ground” is a ton of fun. Tap your toe to this:
There you have it, a variety of new tunes to sink your musical teeth into. Next week, I’ve got some indie hip hop, metal, and a few thinks in between, so come back for another roundup. Same bat time. Same bat channel.
